HOW TO HEAL A BROKEN HEART

HOW TO EXPERIENCE GOD’S COMFORT
1. Realize God is with me
“The Lord is close to the broken hearted; he rescues those whose Spirits are crushed.” - Psalms 34:18
Things I Need to Remember
God is aware
“…You examine all my paths. You trace all my footprints. - Job 13:27
God cares
“The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.” - Nahum 1:7
God wants to help me
“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” - Hebrews 4:16
2. Realize the hurt
How? I must stop focusing on what’s lost and start focusing on what’s left.
“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. And I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” - Isaiah 43:19
3. Rely on God’s resources
Three “Comforters”:
God’s word
“I am completely discouraged...Revive me by your Word ....Your Word has been my comfort.” - Psalm 119:25, 52 (LB)
God’s people
“All praise to God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are in trouble, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.” - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
God’s Spirit
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through of the Holy Spirit.” - Romans 15:13
