FINDING COMFORT THIS CHRISTMAS

Comfort & Joy - Episode 1

12/6/20 | Gabe Kolstad

PROBLEM: Comfort LEAKS!

Today we’ll explore why we keep coming up short & the one thing you can do differently to keep your tank filled no matter what.

It’s not the desire for comfort that betrays us; We’re born with that - hard wired for it. Front the warm touch of a mother’s kiss on the forehead, to the evening glow of the summer sun, our lives were designed to expose us to moments and glimpses of comfort. That is all as it should be. What betrays us is searching for it among the lower things.    -Gabe Kolstad

Introducing Simeon

Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him.    -Luke 2:25 (NIV)

(The Holy Spirit) had revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. That day the Spirit led him to the Temple. So when Mary and Joseph came to present the baby Jesus to the Lord as the law required, Simeon was there. He took the child in his arms and praised God, saying, “Sovereign Lord, now let your servant die in peace, as you have promised. I have seen your salvation, which you have prepared for all people. He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel!-Luke 2:25-32 (NLT)

SIMEON’S SECRET:

COMFORT is not the goal - THE COMFORTER is the goal.

  1. REACH for JESUS

  2. CONNECT others to the COMFORTER

3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.    -2 Corinthians 1:3-4

If you’ve never said YES to Jesus, to receive His unconditional love and forgiveness, consider praying this prayer:

Jesus I give you my life. Thank you for saving me. I believe in you. Your life. Your death on the cross. And Your resurrection. Forgive me of my sins. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Lead me. And teach me to follow you. And I ask it in Jesus name.
