RESET YOUR ATTITUDE

RESET YOUR ATTITUDE

Reset - Part 4 of 5

June 27, 2021 | Gabe Kolstad | @gabekolstad

As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.

-Proverbs 27:19 (NIV)

Your Attitude is How You INTERPRET the DATA

30 But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!”

31 But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!”

32 So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites: “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge. 33 We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!” -Numbers 13:30-33 (NLT)

HOW TO RESET A ROTTEN ATTITUDE:

1. Focus on the PROMISES not the PROBLEMS

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!    -Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

-Romans 10:17 (ESV)

2. Evaluate and adjust your INFLUENCES

10 Now, as you can see, the Lord has kept me alive and well as he promised for all these forty-five years since Moses made this promise—even while Israel wandered in the wilderness. Today I am eighty-five years old. 11 I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then. 12 So give me the hill country that the Lord promised me. You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak living there in great, walled towns. But if the Lord is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the Lord said.    -Joshua 14:10-12 (NLT)

3. Decide to be an ELEVATOR

24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.    -Hebrews 10:24 (NLT)

My Next Step Today Is:

  • Today I’m saying YES to Jesus!

  • I’ll memorize Isaiah 26:3 this week

  • My Positive Influence: ___________________

  • I’m interested in helping to plan this year’s Good Neighbor Project (8/29)

For Reflection & Discussion:

  • When do you find yourself most susceptible to a negative attitude? How can you learn to HALT this week to focus more on God’s promises than on your problems?

  • Who is someone in your life that always lifts you up and gives you a better perspective? How can you get more time with them on a regular basis?

  • Who in your life needs you to be an elevator right now? What will you do this week to lift them up?
