HOPE FOR EVERYDAY

HOPE FOR EVERY DAY

Change Your World - Part 1 of 7 | October 9, 2022

Gabe Kolstad | @gabekolstad

“Hope is being able to see that there is light

despite all of the darkness.”

-Desmond Tutu

18 Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” 19 And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s womb. 20 Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. 21 He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.

-Romans 4:18-21 (NLT)

The Hope Exchange

1. GRIEF for GRATITUDE

“In this (hope) you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.”    -1 Peter 1:6 (NIV)

2. FEAR for FAITH

“These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold.”    -1 Peter 1:7 (NLT)

3. APATHY for ACTION

“So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.” -1 Peter 1:13 (NLT)

This Week’s Memory Verse:

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.    -Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)

For Discussion @ Home:

What are you “hoping” for our home life? What’s one thing we could each do to bring more hope into our home this week?
