15 I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate.... 18 And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. -Romans 7:15, 18 (NLT)
THE PROBLEM: PLAYING GOD
In your great pride you claim, ‘I am a god! I sit on a divine throne in the heart of the sea.’ But you are only a man and not a god, though you boast that you are a god. -Ezekiel 28:2 (NLT)
THE SOLUTION: ADMITTING
God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. -Matthew 5:3 (NLT)
I ADMIT that I’m powerless to control my tendency
to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable.
1. ADMIT I need HELP
God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. -James 4:6b (NLT)
2. Ask GOD for help
We felt we were doomed to die and saw how powerless we were to help ourselves; but that was good, for then we put everything into the hands of God, who alone could save us, for he can even raise the dead. -2 Corinthians 1:9 (LB)
3. ACCEPT help from OTHERS
9 Two can accomplish more than twice as much as one, for the results can be much better. 10 If one falls, the other pulls him up; but if a man falls when he is alone, he’s in trouble.
-Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (LB)
Admit your faults to one another and pray for each other so that you may be healed. -James 5:16a (LB)
