THE HOUSECLEANING CHOICE

I CAN’T / Choice 1: The Reality Choice I realize that I am not God. I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing, and my life is unmanageable.

GOD CAN / Choice 2 : The Hope Choice I earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him, and that He has the power to help me change.

LET HIM / Choice 3: The Commitment Choice I consciously choose to commit all of my life and will to Christ’s care and control.

God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. -Matthew 5:8 (NLT)

THE HOUSECLEANING CHOICE:

I openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust.

I have come in order that you might have life—life in all its fullness. -John 10:10 (GN)

  • JESUS DOESN’T WANT ME TO BE RELIGIOUS, HE WANTS ME TO BE REAL

43 Then Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!” 44 And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound in graveclothes, his face wrapped in a headcloth. Jesus told them, “Unwrap him and let him go!”  -John 11:43-44 (NLT)

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.    -Romans 5:8 (NLT)

  • THE BASIS FOR A PURE HEART IS NOT HOW GOOD YOU’VE BEEN, BUT HOW GOOD GOD IS

O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.    -Psalm 139:1 (NLT)

Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”  And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.    -Psalm 32:5 (NLT)

WHEN YOU NEED TO COME CLEAN…

  • REMEMBER GOD’S KINDNESS

God’s kindness leads you toward repentance.    -Romans 2:4 (NIV)

  • REMEMBER GOD’S FAITHFULNESS

38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  • REMEMBER GOD’S PROMISES


And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.    -Ezekiel 36:26 (NLT)

Bottom Line: Commit to Jesus, find STRENGTH.
