1 While they were at Hazeroth, Miriam and Aaron criticized Moses because he had married a Cushite woman. 2 They said, “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses? Hasn’t he spoken through us, too?” But the Lord heard them.    -Numbers 12:1-2 (NLT)

19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.    -James 1:19 (NLT)

1. LEAD by LISTENING

“You must all be quick to listen…”

2. PROCESS before you REPLY

“You must all be…slow to speak…”

3. Be GENTLE

“You must all be…slow to get angry…”

20 Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. 21 So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.    -James 1:20-21 (NLT)

FOR DISCUSSION & REFLECTION:

1. Why do you think communication at home is sometimes more difficult than communication at work or other places?

2. What have you found to be helpful when tensions rise and you need to communicate about something important?

3. Of the three instructions from James 1:19, which one do you find the most difficult - (1) Quick to listen, (2) Slow to speak, or (3) Slow to get angry?

4. What is God showing you this week about how you can bring better communication into your home?
