A Place for Kids

At Westside, we believe children are a gift from God. We consider it a great privilege to spend time with the children of our church and community each week.

Because we are convinced that God has a wonderful plan for each child, we are committed to coming alongside your family and assisting you in the task God has given you. By getting started early in the life of a child, instilling biblical values and convictions lays a foundation of faith that will last a lifetime.

The Purpose of Children's Programs
Our Children's Ministry exists to SHARE Christ with the children of our community, TEAM them with other Christians, DEDICATE their lives to God, ADVANCE them in their spiritual maturity, and help them to RECOGNIZE their spiritual gifts.

Fun For All Ages
Infants - 2nd graders meet in our 4,000 square foot Children's Center where the decorations, colors, furniture, and equipment are all tailored to the needs and interests of children. Most importantly, this is a secure and clean environment where your child will be positively impacted. 3rd - 5th graders (The Edge) meet in our Community Center in an environment all their own where the program and setting will stimulate your child's imagination and desire to learn.

Classes for Children - Located in the Children’s Center

Infants & Crawlers / Walkers & Talkers (ages 0-24 months)
Our nursery is divided into two sections, where your child will receive excellent care from our trained volunteers. So from careful diaper checks to playtime fun, your child will be well cared for.

What To Bring
When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items:

* Two or three disposable diapers. No cloth diapers, please.
* Pacifier or other item, should your child need it for security.
* A complete change of clothes in case your child would require that.
* A bottle of milk, formula, juice or water. (This is a good practice even for mothers who nurse.)

2's to 3’s - Under the Sea
These classes focus on teaching children some basic Bible stories and lessons by using crafts, activities, Bible verses, songs, and other means to communicate each week. This is truly a "hands on" approach to learning and the kids have a blast.
What To Bring
When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items:

* A disposable diaper or pull-up. No cloth diapers, please.
* A complete change of clothes in case your child would require that.

4’s to 5’s - Rush Hour
The preschoolers & kindergarteners have the opportunity to engage in activities similar to the Beginners' classes, but at a more advanced level as to prepare them for their transition to school.

1st to 2nd Grade - The Explorers
All Stars are challenged to begin applying God’s love & knowledge to their everyday life through exciting hands on lessons and activities.

3rd to 5th graders - The Edge
The Edge is a program just for kids! It includes singing, object lessons, Bible lessons, playing games, and interacting with one another.

How Can I Get Involved?
We're always excited to help parents and volunteers become a part of our Children's Ministry. In fact, we highly encourage it!

You can start by getting to know your child's teacher and class. Just stop by the classroom any Sunday before or right after the class and get acquainted.

If you'd like to volunteer to help out in one of the classes, please contact Rebekah Bradley at (503) 649-1858, or email rebekah@westsidemail.com.
